Lovely Stay

“We recently spent five nights in Hastings and the Laindons was our home for that time.

This is a beautiful house located on the High Street in Old Hastings. The street is full of character and close to the sea and plenty of pubs and restaurants.
On arrival, we were welcomed by Malcolm who showed us to our room and also explained how breakfast works. Our room, The Red Room, is a really good size with the most amazing bed, chairs, good shower room, and storage space. The tea & coffee supplied in the rooms are of an excellent quality – also home-baked cookies.

Breakfast is served in a beautiful sunny first-floor room and the breakfasts are superb. You order the night before and a time is allocated – worked well.
Malcolm and Karen were delightful hosts, friendly without intruding.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend a stay without hesitation”

Is this hotel the best-kept secret in East Sussex?

Long story short – covid cancellation forced an eleventh-hour search for an alternative venue for a 2-night playaway in East Sussex for my partner and me.

Enter The Laindons Hotel. Same price but…. Uh Oh… in Hastings……?

Forget everything you’ve heard about Hastings….

Providence threw us a proper Brucie Bonus with this booking! If you can stay anywhere in Hastings Old Town best make it the Laindons, a gorgeous Georgian 3 storey house kitted out beautifully with stylish modern furnishings and arts and crafts some of which are for sale.

Malcolm and Karen are wonderful hosts who even made a mix-up with our room into a piece of comedic entertainment. ;o)

Our wrong room was the red room which is a symbol of good luck in certain cultures so the room mix-up was a happy coincidence. The room is lovely and boasts a sexy red Bond chair to boot!

The in-room refreshments are to die for. There are welcome chocolates and the usual refrigerated minibar and snacks. But the complimentary selection of good quality teas and REAL ground coffee and cafetiere to brew your own combined with a mini bottle of FRESH milk is an attention to detail lesser establishments overlook tipped the scales….. And then there are those biscuits…….

You order breakfast the day before which is no biggie and means you don’t have long to wait too long sipping freshly squeezed orange juice before you break-feast.

Day 1 – Full English (me – bacon and sausages are amazing. Chew slowly) Blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup (partner): Exceptional

Day 2 – Bagel with cream cheese and salmon (me). They get exquisite smoked salmon from Rock-a-Nore Smokehouse on the seafront. Need I say more? Full English (partner).

Oh yeah, and there’s this muesli Greek yogurt pot they make that you have as a starter….. Did I forget to mention the toast? We sampled a prune and black pepper bread sourced from a local artisan bread maker. Man Oh Man…..

Hastings is Fabulous and made all the better for the discovery of The Laindons Hotel.
